Be Kinder Than You Feel

No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted. - Aesop

When you hear the words "Random Acts of Kindness", what visual comes to mind?  Do you picture a boy scout helping an old lady across the street?

I believe it is the intention of most people to be kind to others.  There are very few exceptions, at least as far as I can see.  Some people seek out opportunities to be kind more than others, but I believe everyone has good intentions deep down inside.

As long as the Holy Spirit abides in us, we need to strive to be the sort of person Christ wants us to be.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,  gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
- Galatians 5:22-23

When my blood sugar is either too high or too low, it's easy for me to be a bit snippy towards people.  So, even on days when it may be more difficult to get my blood sugar under control, I still need to remember to be kind.  I need to be kind on purpose!  If I can pay a kindness forward that has been done to me, then it's a good day!

I'm thankful that I have a loving heavenly Father who wrote the book on kindness.  Christ is our ultimate example of kindness.  As we fast approach the season of giving thanks for all our blessings, may we all realize that we have so much in our lives to be truly grateful for.

Be Ye Kind.

This poem seems appropriate today.  We do share the love of Christ with others because we care.  It's the ultimate act of kindness to share His love because it has done so much in my life!  Lucinda Berry Hill, author of "Coffee With Jesus" wrote this and I hope you enjoy it.

Because I Care
With you I share God's messages,
His words of comfort and commands.
I share these things, not for myself
But for you my precious friend.
If you would have a special gift
That I was not aware,
I'd hope you'd open up your heart
And with me your gift you'd share.
If I can help along life's way
Then that is why I'm here;
To give a hand, to share a thought,
And just because I care.
I'm glad we share God's gift of love.
His mercy and His grace.

We can learn and we can grow
Together in our faith.
I need support and I need strength,
I need knowledge and advice.
And I am here to do the same
For you my friend in Jesus Christ.

Some of you are going to love me for what I'm about to announce!  Today is NATIONAL CHEESEBURGER DAY!!!!!!!  If you indulge, it's my advice that you have your cheeseburger just the way you like it and even though it's a great temptation to put the fries beside that burger - I would skip the french fries.  You could, however, bake your own potato fries.  That's cool.

You know, your statement about being "down" from Sept to March made me think about SAD, which is Seasonal Affective Disorder. It has to do with feeling depressed or out of sorts with less and less daylight. Many people are prescribed a type of light that replicates sunshine to keep their MOJO up during the winter! Then you had a scripture about LIGHT right after that, so I took that as my cue to make this comment!

I had not made that connection but will certainly think and pray more about that! Thanks!

There might be a connection with SAD and Calcium/D3 since sunlight is needed to ?activate? it and there is also a connection with Magnesium and depression. I have been researching lately and Calcium and Magnesium need to be balanced. Roughly, Calcium will allow your muscles to tighten enough to hold that glass of milk, but the Magnesium will allow them to relax enough to put it back down.

That's an interesting point as well, Nikki! Perhaps I need to tweak my vitamin/mineral intake as well. Thank you.
